Security will be more intense at the Triple Crown Races this year.
The Boston Marathon bombings have caused security officials at the 2013 races to enact additional restrictive security policies for fans attending the races.
The Preakness Stakes near Baltimore, Maryland attracts over 100,000 fans and is the largest sporting event in the Washington metropolitan area.
A few of the new rules include…
- Electronic wand searches for fans entering the race course.
- No backpacks or duffle bags in the infield.
- Coolers are banned unless they are see through.
