In the first triple photo finish since 1947 Mystik Dan won the 2024 Kentucky Derby by a nose edging out Sierra Leone and Forever Young.
Trainer Kenny McPeek swept the weekend with his first Kentucky Derby win as well as taking the Kentucky Oaks on Friday. He is the first trainer since Ben Jones in 1952 to take both races of Derby weekend.
The 156,710 fans in attendance watched as jockey Brian Hernandez Jr. made a late move on the inside rail to find a gap and move to the front of the pack.
