The field for the 149th running of the Preakness Stakes is set. We had to wait a week to see if Derby winner Mystik Dan would be coming to race at Pimlico. He is… so we’ll have a shot at a possible Triple Crown winner this year!
No horse has taken the first two legs of the Triple Crown since 2018. Trainer Kenny McPeek hopes Mystik Dan with jockey Brian Hernandez Jr. can be the one coming from the No. 5 post position.
Bob Baffert’s Muth had opened as the early favorite but has been scratched due to illness. He still has a shot at a record extending 9th Preakness win with Imagination in the No. 9 spot.
88 year old trainer D. Wayne Lukas has 2 of the 8 horses in this race and looks to get his 7th Preakness win.
