The field is set for the 2014 Preakness Stakes at Pimlico Race Course this Saturday near Baltimore, Maryland.
And as expected California Chrome is the favorite. Although at 3-5 he is a slightly bigger favorite than some had anticipated even though he on a five race winning streak.
“I never thought I’d be that kind of price, I really thought I’d be 6-5.” said Art Sherman the trainer for California Chrome.
The Preakness Field and Odds
1 – Dynamic Impact (12-1)
2 – General a Rod (15-1)
3 – California Chrome (3-5)
4 – Ring Weekend (20-1)
5 – Bayern (10-1)
6 – Ria Antonia (30-1)
7 – Kid Cruz (20-1)
8 – Social Inclusion (5-1)
9 – Pablo Del Monte (20-1)
10 – Ride on Curlin (10-1)
With the field size half that of the Kentucky Derby (10 vs 20 horses), it will be interesting to see how California Chrome’s jockey Victor Espinoza attacks this race.
But for now the odds are good that we will have an opportunity for a potential Triple Crown winner at the Belmont.
