Early Voting is the 2022 Preakness Winner

Early Voting beat favorite Epicenter by a length and a half to win the second jewel in the Triple Crown. Jockey Jose Ortiz went out front early with Armagnac and stayed strong down the final stretch of the 2022 Preakness Stakes to hold off a fast closing Epicenter ridden by Joel Rosario. Jose Ortiz had previously won in the Belmont Stakes now he can add the Preakness to his growing resume.

The 2022 Preakness winner had only run in 3 races prior to today’s event. Trainer Chad Brown had Early Voting sit out of the Kentucky Derby to get stronger before this race. He had recently finished 2nd to Mo Donegal in the Wood Memorial.

Today was owner Seth Klarman’s birthday and he got a wonderful present. His second Preakness win comes 5 years after his first when Cloud Computing won the race in 2017.

After the race there was some discussion about the move Early Voting made near the end of the race to get back in front of Epicenter. In our opinion he looked clear and there should be no controversy.
